FUN STUFF TO READ, LEARN, & DO

“I realized that plastic had become such a part of my life that it had become invisible to me. I just did not see it until it was pointed out…and then I saw it everywhere…Once you see it, when you start to look at the problems it causes…you cannot unsee it

~Craig Leeson, award-winning journalist and director of A Plastic Ocean

FUN STUFF TO LEARN:

The apples you just bought at the grocery store are a year old!

  • In the USA, apples are picked between Aug/Sept a year in advance
  • They’re slightly unripe, sprayed with chemicals, waxed, and then kept in cold storage

If you prefer fresh apples, do these things instead:

  • Buy from a local farmer at the farmers market
  • Visit an apple orchard and pick your own

Always wash your produce well before eating!

FUN STUFF TO DO:

Put your plastic in the proper bin!

These items CAN’T be recycled at your curbside program:

  • Ziploc bags, produce bags, bread bags
  • pallet wrap, stretch film, case overwrap
  • newspaper sleeves, grocery bags
  • bubble wrap, plastic shipping envelopes
  • dry cleaning bags, ice bags

But they CAN be recycled with NexTrex.
Drop off your clean, dry, plastic waste and keep it out of the landfill:
